New Year, New Issues: planning ahead for 2021

New Year, New Issues: planning ahead for 2021

So long, 2020! It’s normal to look back nostalgically at the year we’ve had, but with the civil unrest, western wildfires, threat of killer hornets, and of course, the pandemic, 2020 was not the kind of year that you stay tender to. So goodbye, 2020, and good riddance! 2021 will have plenty of challenges for us. There’s hope on the horizon now that a vaccine to COVID-19 has been approved, but with the economy in rough shape and so many out of work and/or homeless in the ensuing closedowns, the future is an undiscovered country that might be just as bad as the previous year. But the important thing now is to plan for 2021, and make the safe bets. Pay attention to what’s on the horizon… what to do about your kids if they are about to graduate into this situation… how to prepare for whatever bad shocks might come without living in fear. Your vehicle is one element that should not be giving you anxiety. You are likely driving it less than previous y ... read more

The Importance of Tire Rotations

The Importance of Tire Rotations

When most drivers think of their vehicle maintenance, tires don't usually come to mind. They are highly durable components of your vehicle, however, they still need care and service. Buying a new set of tires doesn't come cheap, and the longer you can sustain good working tires, the safer you'll be on the road and the more money you'll save on tires over time.  Tires typically only need to be replaced every 60,000 miles or so, depending on your individual driving habits and how well you take care of your vehicle. So when it comes to tire maintenance, what exactly is needed? We want to talk to you about tire rotations, and just how important they are.  What exactly is a tire rotation? Tire rotation is the simple service of a mechanic switching the positions of your tires. The tires will switch which side of the vehicle they are on, and the front and back position. It's basically giving each tire a run at every position in your vehicle. But why?  Wel ... read more

New Year’s Resolutions Around Your Driving Habits

New Year’s Resolutions Around Your Driving Habits

Are you planning on making a New Years Resolution this year? At Avid Autowerx, we’re challenging ourselves, our families, and our customers to add these driving resolutions that center around driving habits to their list: Be the grown up. Somebody’s gotta. When people are rude, give back kindness and consideration. Be courteous,  Be in the right state of mind to drive. Never drive after imbibing alcohol or drugs, including prescription drugs if they don’t recommend you drive. Put away your cell phone. Don’t text, don’t talk, unless you can do it hands free. And even then, try to get in the habit of pulling over to discuss anything more contentious then the price of potatoes. Buckle up. Strap in, and make sure all your passengers are strapped in, and in the right kind of chair (don’t put an infant in a seat belt). Signal. If you are lax on this up until this ... read more

Showing Gratitude For Our Cars

Showing Gratitude For Our Cars

It’s November, and that means the holiday season will kick off soon with the feast of feasts, Thanksgiving. This is the time of year when we all come back from our individual busy lives and spend a holiday weekend with our extended families over parades and football and board games. We gather around a table, a diverse collection of pilgrims, come to give thanks for our safe arrival home one more year. In some families, though, there are members, young and old, who are vulnerable to disease and can’t risk a full family gathering. That will mean many families will have to skip Thanksgiving this year to protect each other. It’s important to show gratitude when we can for being well enough to see each other for the holiday.  As we give thanks for all we have this year and for each other, there’s someone you rely on daily who deserves your recognition: your car! Who else braves the weather for you, beats the traffic in on time, and keeps you mild, calm, and en ... read more

What Does the TPMS Warning Light Indicate?

What Does the TPMS Warning Light Indicate?

You're driving along and see the light above illuminated on your vehicle's dashboard - what does this mean? Are my tires bad, do they need air, or does my tire have a puncture?
